Boxing Day at Lululemon

Hello again, everyone!

Once more: I can’t tell you how happy I am to finally have time to write again! Anyways, this year, as with every year, I went to Lululemon to find Boxing Day Deals! I didn’t come away with much, but overall, WMTM online and in-store was a bore. Maybe I’m harder to impress given how long I’ve followed and loved the brand, but this winter’s offerings were too bland. I can’t wait until the new Spring colors arrive. Plus, there was a general lack of Bordeaux Drama this winter- replaced by the slightly more purple, and less red “Darkest Magenta.” I bought something in this color, but it doesn’t excite me as much as Bordeaux Drama. Bordeaux Drama is my favorite fall color!

Bordeaux Drama vs Darkest Magenta

Anyways, I know that Lululemon puts out more black, grey and white- rather than colorful items- for the holidays, so that people will be confident that they can purchase the items for other people without knowing their favorite colors. Everyone likes neutrals, right? The other thing about that is, that given Lululemon’s extended return policy during the holidays, that if people return items the colors won’t clash on the racks. They don’t want to have one bright pink legging among a sea of black, nor do they want to have one purple, one  pink, one blue, etc… Therefore, the more muted and neutral they can keep the fall/ winter palette between the beginning and end of the extended return period, the less likely they’ll have to put something on sale just because it looks terrible on the rack next to all the other items. Given this, it leaves much to be desired by myself, a long-time, regular customer. I have black Wunder Unders. I have a black CRB. I have black sweaters. I have black Rulu tops… So, unless they’re coming out with a Space Dye or a new Ziggy Wee, I am not drawn in. I did like some of the Shibori items, and the Fairisle stuff is cute, but there’s not enough POP! in most of the colors. Although, I did end up getting a pair of In the Flow pants in shibori darkest magenta black.

Anyways, I heard that WMTM online was good for a bit, but I didn’t check until about two hours after it dropped, so, maybe I missed all the good stuff, but I checked my local store and picked up a couple of items. One item I was surprised to see on the sale rack was a pair of black In the Flow crops. Rarely do plain black items go on sale at Lululemon, so I guess I got lucky. The other thing that I saw was a pair of the Ready to Rulu pants that I was raving about earlier this year. I was debating buying the very pair I spotted on sale earlier when they first came out because I figured that that color, Running Luon Spray Jacquard White Black, would likely go to WMTM because it was similar to other colors that had gone on sale in previous years. I don’t know about you, but I’m not crazy about paying full price only to see items go to WMTM. So, I decided to wait. Glad I got lucky and I was able to pick them up on Boxing Day! It’s worth mentioning, however, that this color is not as soft as the others.

Graduated & the Future

Hello Hello everyone!

After an intense semester consisting of a bevy of (6!)classes, including two graduate level, and an internship that took some time as well, but that I absolutely loved- I’m finally ready to start writing on a regular basis again. I have actually considered starting a new website to talk about what I’m going to be doing with my time since I have completed my undergraduate education, but I’ve decided that I’ll keep the posts on here, but be sure to title and tag them appropriately. That way, if you’re not interested in my new hobbies, or with what I’m up to after college you can only open those posts that are about Lululemon or what interests you.

In addition to job-searching/ applying/ interviewing, I will be exploring some new hobbies, and, in addition to reestablishing my posts about Lululemon, I hope to share my new hobbies with you, specifically planning and my opinion on Cardio Barre.

I tried Pure Barre a couple of years ago, and I didn’t *love* it, so for Christmas I asked my husband for class passes to Cardio Barre, which is a different class with the same idea of incorporating a bar. I know one of the instructors at my local studio, and a friend of mine also works out there, so I think it will be fun and easy to get started there. I’ve done a couple of classes there, but that was about 3 years ago- from what I remember, I did enjoy it, but I will share what I think with y’all on here after I take more than just two classes! I will likely do a “comparison between Cardio Barre and Pure Barre” post as well.

One other thing I’ve recently discovered is the planning community. I am excited to share my planning spreads with you. For some reason I have a strong feeling that people who love Lululemon are also in the planning community. Let me know in the comments if this describes you.

Anyways, I am excited to come back to my blog- I have missed writing so so much and I have so many ideas for what I want to write about! In fact… I’m going to get to work on those right now!

The First Mile Jacket

This is the best jacket- hands down- that I think Lululemon has come out with in the last 5 years. Does this jacket remind anyone else of the Fluff Off jacket of 2013? Functionally, in addition to cuffins- to keep your hands toasty warm, there are reflective details along the arms- strategically placed for visibility. The Rulu fabric along the sides and back help create and attractive, feminine silhouette. I live in the South, so I think that this jacket could keep me warm all Winter long!

I think this jacket will be on some people’s Christmas wish lists this year.

*Of note: Some reviewers said that this jacket zips up tight in the neck area, and is tight in the shoulders. Others said it was a roomy TTS for layering. That was my impression as well. I found it to be a roomy TTS. Probably best to try it on for size if you can. Don’t worry though, extended return season is upon us. If you purchase items, at full price (no WMTM) you may return them until January 8th, due to the holiday return policy.

Also: There is no down in this jacket. It has fleece and Primaloft to keep you warm.

What do you think? Have you purchased the First Mile jacket? Waiting for it to hit WMTM? Let me know in the comment section!

Lululemon OOTD

Hello again!

It’s good to (finally!) have more time to write!

Here I am at my local Planet Fitness!

I’m wearing my Define jacket in Space Dye Twist Dark Slate Fatigue Green and Real Quick crops in Deep Green.

I’ve been really diggin green lately for some reason. Am I subliminally picking up on a fashion trend I’m expected to notice by advertisers? Or are my preferences for girly colors like pink & purple just changing? Hmmm… Something to ponder, I guess…

What are you diggin this season? What winter items are you most excited to wear? For me, I definitely can’t wait to wear my Stress Less Hoodies.

Vinyasa Scarves: My collection

Hello everyone!

Today I want to talk about my favorite Lululemon scarves: Vinyasas! I actually don’t own any other Lululemon scarves other than Vinyasas. I used to. I definitely sold them. I just wear a Vinyasa almost every single day in the fall and winter. They are amazing.

Again, since this blog is a lot about selling Lululemon I will mention that Vinyasa scarves do tend to hold their value fairly well.

These are my favorite scarves for a few reasons, the main one being that they are made of Rulu- which is luxuriously soft and cozy! But they’re also good at keeping my neck warm and they make a great shawl too! I love bringing one of these with me on the plane. Plus they come in a variety of pretty colors.

Here is my collection!

Left to right, top to bottom. (Worth noting: Some are folded sideways since there are two different colors on each side, and two of them are Ivivva Chili scarves.)

Heathered Fossil, Heathered Bordeaux Drama Bumbleberry (side a) & Heathered Bordeaux Drama (side b)- beneath, Herringbone, Wee Stripe Winter Orchid (side a) & Deep Zinfandel (side b)- right beside, Coco Pique White/ Black, Mini Check Pique Ultra Violet Heather Black,  Ivivva: Space Dye Ultramarine Rosebud Pow Pink, Mini Check Pique Caspian Blue Heathered Inkwell, (Bumbleberry as mentioned above), Mini Check Pique Aquamarine Heathered Peacock Blue, Wee Stripe Lilac Heathered Coal, Pretty Pink Slalom Stripe, Hyper Stripe Black (side a) / Black (side b), Mini Check Pique Beaming Blue Polar Cream, Parallel Stripe Pigment Blue Heathered Black, Butter Pink Heathered Bordeaux Drama, Ivivva: Heather Pigment Blue & Toothpaste Herringbone.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Thanks for reading!

Lululemon OOTD

Hello everyone!

I haven’t done one of these in a while, but I just wanted to stay in touch, so I thought it would be fun to reconnect with an OOTD!

Here I am at the local Planet Fitness in my Inspire Tights II in power luxtreme spray jacquard hunter green black/black and a Tofino Teal Sculpt Tank.

Thanks for Visiting!

New: Wild & Free Tight

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to take a moment to talk to y’all today about these:

These are the new “Wild & Free” tights! The color featured here is fall net white black/black. I really like these for early Fall, when it’s still warm-ish in the South.

I think these in the color Deepest Magenta are the prettiest! I hope they continue producing items in Bordeaux Drama though! That’s my favorite Fall color.

What do y’all think? Do you like these? What about the color? Let me know in the comments below!

Glyder – Another Favorite in Yoga Apparel

Hello friends!

I want to talk to you about another favorite brand of mine, Glyder. I know a lot of people, including myself, who are concerned about the rising prices of Lululemon. Many people already only buy Lululemon items from the sale rack, and personally, I find much of the raise in prices unjustified. And I am not alone. Along with Agent Athletica’s thoughtful article, here is one from Business Insider. I will continue to shop at Lululemon, but I have noticed the price changes and they do affect my purchase decisions. I’m a lot more likely to have a “wait and see” approach to items I’m not 100% in love with to see if they go to WMTM. For example, I am currently loving the new Ready to Rulu pants. I got them in the Heathered Navy color, tried them, got compliments on them, loved them and went back for more. I honestly would like these in every color- they are amazing. But, since I think that the Spray Jacquard color will go to WMTM, I picked up the black, since black (almost) never goes to WMTM, and I will ‘wait and see’ with the Jacquard color. I am just not wanting to pay more than I have to- especially since all sizes are still stocked.

Anyways, moving on to the point of this article: Brands I’ve been enjoying other than Lululemon- namely, Glyder. I first discovered Glyder a couple of years ago through the Lululemon Facebook groups, as I recall. I bought my first pair of their Mantra crops on sale, I think I paid about $45 after tax & shipping, and really enjoyed them. They come in a variety of fun colors- here is a selection of what is currently available on their website:

The first ones car called “Electric Berry Heather,” but look a lot like Lululemon’s Ultra-Violet *comparison photo below*, and the second are just “Black & White Stripe” but look a lot like Lululemon’s Parallel Stripe pants from a while back. I really like these “Mantra” Crops because they are a slightly less expensive version of the classic Wunder Under crop. They’re usually comprised of a Nylon/ Spandex fabric, just like Lululemon and they are just as comfortable. Also just like Lululemon, fabric content does vary, so please do look at each pair individually, as fabric content is listed on the site, but on average, I find the fabric quality to be comparable to Lululemon’s.

Did I mention that they cost less? A pair of Mantra Crops- regular price- are $60, and there are some on sale (in XS only!) right now for $33.60. Meanwhile, Lululemon’s Wunder Unders are now $88.

Basically, I think that if you are disenchanted with Lululemon, perturbed by their more expensive prices as of late with no accompanying increase in quality or features or just want to try something new that is of similarly good quality, you should give these a try.

If you’re interested, they sometimes have items for sale on Zulily *** as well. Caveat: Most Zulily**** items are non-returnable. However, I have had success with returns, personally, when I was making them due to errors on the website. They had listed the fabric content as being Nylon and it was Polyester. Other than that, or incorrect items shipped, I don’t know that there is much wiggle room in the way of  returns. However, they were very gracious- customer service always responds within hours and I even received a $10 for my next order. Just make sure you read the fabric content listed on the website, if that’s of concern to you.

If you do end up getting something from Glyder, let me know! Do you already have Glyder items? I’d love to hear what you think!

*Lululemon’s Ultra Violet vs. Glyder’s Electric Berry Heather. Glyder is shown on top.

***Note from above: Link goes to my Pinterest page because at the time, those were items that we on the Zulily site, however, depending on when you read this, those same items may no longer be there, so I pinned them and that way you can see what was for sale and not receive a 404 Error message. You can still try the embedded links in the photos on Pinterest, but the pictured items may have sold by then.

****Next Zulily link is an affiliate invite link- If you sign up and buy something I get $15. If you don’t want to sign up through my link, just click the first link, then click the picture on Pinterest- that link is non-affiliate. This is something that anyone can do too, so once you sign up you’ll receive your own affiliate link and you can share it with your friends and get $15 too!

NEW: Ready to Rulu Pants

Hello everyone,

My, my, my, has it been a while! I constantly miss writing for fun. The good news is that I was able to keep my internship, the bad news is I don’t have much free time at all. I am taking 6 classes, two of which are grad level all while working and participating in extracurriculars. This semester I’ve pared down the extracurriculars though and am only doing TISL and Leadership training offered through my school. In any case, I am busy and I miss writing. So, here I am. Inspired by Lululemon’s new Fall offerings (again.) I do love their Fall collection and it consistently helps me open my wallet.

My newest favorite is their “Ready to Rulu” pant. I HAD to have these once I tried them on in-store. They absolutely are the “New & Improved” Winter Rulu, Base-runner relative pant. I think they’re cousins or something.

I got the heathered navy blue. They are soft, just like the Base Runners. Roomy too. They are warm and cozy, just like the Base Runners. We will have to “wait and see” if these experience the same waistband rolling issues that some Base Runners had, but I feel that the pockets don’t pucker like they do (slightly) with the Base Runners. Part of the reason for the lack of puckering is that one of the pockets is zippered. I wish that they had put zippers on both sides, instead of just the right-hand pocket, but I think that adding a zippered pocket is a move in the right direction for sure.

I thought these were a roomy TTS, and did I mention how comfy they are?

OCTOBER 2019 UPDATE!

Lululemon is selling these again this Fall. So far, I only see black online, but I am hoping for other colors soon, since I already own black. I will buy these again and again. They’ve lasted through 3 winters so far, no excessive pilling and I wear them all the time! So soft, so versatile.

Did you get these? Let me know what you think in the comments!

My Summer So Far…

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to give an update, since it’s been a while. First off: HAPPY CANADA & AMERICA DAY WEEKEND to all my American and Canadian friends 🙂 Even though I live in America-land now, Canada is still in my heart. I got done last semester mid-May, and by the end of May I had started my internship. I’m so happy that I actually got an internship- there are fewer available than there are candidates who seek them, mostly because many employers don’t really want to invest in short term employees. The amount of facetime I have with my mentors at my organization is definitely an investment on their part in my learning. I also hope to be kept on for the Fall semester, part time. I’m so happy that I received this position, specifically, because it’s in my field: International Development.

This is the main reason I haven’t written. I spend much of my time and energy on this job, and in addition, I am enrolled in 4 classes online. Thankfully, one was only one month long. Although it required a lot of investment, I’m happy I’ve completed it successfully (getting an ‘A’), and I will remain enrolled in the other three classes for the remainder of the semester- which is about 4 more weeks. I have the long weekend to complete many of the requirements for my other classes, in some of which I have the opportunity to work ahead.

Anyways, I just wanted to let y’all know why I haven’t been around. I miss writing- a lot. But my internship, and classes, are taking priority at the moment. I’m hoping to write something between now and the 7th (first day back at work after vacation). I’ve had this idea for a post about Vinyasa scarves on the back burner  for a while.

Thanks for reading, y’all! I hope to talk to you soon!
